The Seventh Biennial Meeting of States (BMS7) on the Implementation of the Program of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms in All Its Aspects (PoA) will be held atUnited Nations in New York July 26-30, 2021. BMS7 has been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This BMS 7 will be held while in this region of the Great Lakes, the Horn of Africa and neighboring countriesattacks by terrorists as well as armed groups or movements are multiplying in cascade. We could mention in particular Somalia, CAR, DRC, Ethiopia Rwanda and South Sudan. These countries, as well as others not mentioned, are among those threatened by such groups. It is in this perspective that MI-RPD is organizing a conference debate. This conference aims to create a common vision on the problems shaking the Great Lakes region, to consider together the involvement and integration of women in the implementation of the POA in this Great Lakes Region, the Horn of Africa and the neighboring countries. It is with the aim of allowing civil society organizations, non-state actors, experts and researchers working in the prevention of armed violence and humanitarian disarmament in this region to have the points of view to submit to during the 7th Biennial Meeting of Nations (BMS) and also consider together how to strengthen our support to governments to tackle all the above mentioned issues which are troubling the region. Thus, we appreciate any person or organization who would have a contribution either during the preparations or during the virtual conference. They could contact us so that we can prepare the conference together. We thank everyone in advance for the way you will consider our opinion.
